TRENDnet has announced innovative TV-M7, a 7-inch Wireless Internet Camera and Photo Monitor that streams camera video wirelessly in real-time and can also be used as a photo frame. It claims to be the first ever 7-inch Wireless Internet Camera and Photo Monitor. The TV-M7 effortlessly connects to your wireless network and detects wired as well as wireless TRENDnet Internet Security Cameras to stream videos wirelessly in real-time. It also acts like a photo frame and displays slideshows, plays personal videos and music.


Nortel Networks Corp. has agreed to team up with the Israeli technology provider Alvarion Ltd. to deliver long-range wireless access to customers. The collaboration will involve Alvarion’s radio access network capabilities and Nortel’s network gear and services. Nortel intends to focus its main wireless R&D efforts on a fourth-generation broadband technology called LTE and wireless applications, leaving WiMAX development to Alvarion. The company said
Intel joined Taiwanese mobile phone service provider Chunghwa Telecom to launch Giga-byte Technology’s Atom-powered M528 mobile Internet device. Chunghwa will begin offering the small, handheld device to consumers in December for NT$12,900 (US$386) with a 2-year service package. The devices will cost NT$19,500 without a service plan. The device, which runs a Linux OS, sports a 4.8-inch touchscreen, QWERTY keypad and 4G byte solid state drive (SSD), is just one of few launched so far with an 800Mhz Intel Atom Z500 microprocessor inside.
Meru Networks’ AP300 family of wireless access points, the first enterprise wireless product on the market to incorporate the high-performance IEEE 802.11n standard, has won a Techworld Award as “Enterprise Wireless Product of the Year.” First introduced in April 2007, the AP300 family of access points uses Meru Air Traffic Control technology to deliver full 802.11n draft 2.0 performance at the highest possible wireless client densities while offering complete backward compatibility with 802.11a/b/g devices. Powered by IEEE 802.3af (Power over Ethernet), the AP300 family provides 11n support in both the 2.4- and 5-GHz frequency bands, at both 20- and 40-MHz modes; in the dual-radio units, both radios are dual-band-capable to maximize configuration flexibility.
The Wi-Fi Alliance said that it has introduced a program to certify products so that it can make voice a part of Wi-Fi networks. The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Voice-Personal stamp of approval means a product is capable of making or handling good-quality voice calls in the home or a small office environment, according to the Wi-Fi Alliance. Access points, wireless routers, handsets, which are growing at a steady rate, and laptops can all be tested and certified.
Ellisys has released its BTX Explorer™ family of Bluetooth protocol analysis tools. These new products include the BTX Explorer HCI, a hardware-based host controller interface (HCI) analyzer, the BTX Explorer UWB, a hardware-based UWB PAL analyzer for next generation high speed Bluetooth, and the BTX Explorer Abstract, a software-based analyzer package, each providing comprehensive support of the Bluetooth protocol stack. Ceragon Networks Ltd., a leading provider of high-capacity wireless backhaul solutions, has announced that its advanced FibeAir solutions have again been selected for deployment by Digitel Mobile Philippines Inc., a leading cellular telecommunications provider in the Philippines. Digitel Mobile, which operates under the brand name of Sun Cellular, will use Ceragon’s advanced solutions as part of its network upgrade to provide 3G data and multimedia services based on IP technology. This order totaling over $3.5 million, follows several successful deployments of Ceragon’s wireless backhaul solution for Digitel Mobile over the past few years.
The convenience store chain 7-Eleven Inc. is taking its prepaid wireless program global with the launch of its 7-Connect program in Singapore. Through the 7-Connect program, Singapore consumers will have access to a wireless product that offers free nights and weekends and wireless rates as low as 8 cents per minute for a monthly fee of $30. 7-Eleven has successfully launched a similar program in the U.S. and Canada.
